Söker man en bred bas i förståelse för konflikthantering eller om man alls är intresserad av konflikthantering på internationell nivå bör man sätta sig in i ickevålds, nonviolence, teori. Den bygger på lång erfarenhet av att skapa stora samhällsförändringar under mycket svåra förhållanden och ofta med mycket goda resultat. Personligen kan jag uppleva att det är ett svårt ämne att närma sig om man inte vill ha allt det politiska bagaget men likväl är det intressant.
Är du intresserad av att lära dig mer om ickevåld kan jag rekommendera en gratis utbildning från ett av världens främsta universitet, Berkeley. De lägger numera ut många av sina kurser som gratis ljud och videofiler på nätet. En av kurserna som man kan ta del av alldeles gratis är en kurs med ett 50-tal föreläsningar om ickevåld. Jag lyssnar själv på dem medan jag går och tränar och rekommenderar dem för alla som har intresse. Jag kan särskilt rekommendera första föreläsningen om att lyssna med empati.
